McNiel's musings

Every morning when I pray, I thank the Most High Creator that he favored me by permitting me to be born in the United States of America.

I once read a bumper sticker that said, "Be thankful for our country but don't trust the government."

I drove by the new city/school administration building as they were about to dedicate it at the grand opening ceremony. I thought that maybe they might have wanted me to make a speech seeing as I am such a starch (sic) advocate against wasteful spending. I thought that I might have seen some of the people breathe a sigh of relief as I drove away.

When I was in the government, (the U.S. Navy), I saw so much wasteful spending. That is one of the reasons why I try to be a subtle thorn in the side of our local government officials. Every decision they make cost (sic) we (sic) the taxpayers more money.

The police spend money on new cop cars and a new security machine which they did not previously need. They have nearly 13 full time police officers but they still can't answer the phone when you call them. With all those police patrolling the streets, we now have the new court house full of us so called criminals to pay addition court costs. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will have to go down there every year or so to pay my fair share when they pull me over for doing something that the police officers do everyday themselves. They speed, they run red lights, and they do illegal U-turns. They cross the double yellow line, but, it's ok for them to break those laws because they are the police. It's a double standard.

The city and school just spent nearly three million dollars building this new administration building and now they are talking about building an entirely new high school and a new city sewer plant in the near future. Oh, by the way, they don't have the money for either of these projects so they will soon be coming to ask us citizens to turn our pockets out so that they can get even more of our money. What is next?

When was the last time they asked us what we want? I for one want to have a full time dumpster set up so that we can get ride of some of our trash and not have to wait for spring clean up.

I watched the presidential debate but it doesn't make a difference who we are rooting for because the president is not elected by the people . It is the electoral collage (sic) who decides who the next president will be. That needs to be changed to the popular vote.

Donald Trump is not a professional politician. If He wins, he surely can't do anymore harm. He might actually get something good accomplished. If Hillary Clinton gets the job he will have Bill there to keep her in line.
