Contacted about painting a house, Randen Harmon, a contractor, felt compelled to help a fellow veteran.

"He contacted me about painting the house," Harmon said, explaining that once he saw the house, he realized that both the soffits and fascia were so rotten that it would be wasted to paint them.

"We just wanted to help a veteran in need," Harmon said of J.T. Webb.

Webb, whose house is northeast of Pea Ridge, was a Korean veteran. He said he served in the Army artillery in Korea.

"I hired Harmon," Webb said, "and he and his buddies came out to help."

A native of Pea Ridge, Webb, 87, said he has lived in the house on Patton Road for 50 years. A 1948 graduate of Pea Ridge High School, Webb said there were nine people in his graduating class.

Joining him were Barrett Plunk, Beau Middleton, Braeden Ash (aka Fruit Loop), Bobby McElroy and Stephen Rapier.

Harmon said T.H. Rogers Hardware in Pea Ridge donated materials and work was provided by members of Sheep Dog Impact Assistance as well as the Brotherhood of the Southern Cross Platoon 1862.

"They're a great company," Harmon said of T.H. Rogers.

Ash said: "That's what we do, that's what we're about -- helping veterans in need."

Ash said his group goes to graveyards to clean or wherever they're asked to help.

"We're just volunteering our time," Rapier said, as the crew hurried to beat the rain last Saturday morning.

"I feel great," Rapier said. "This makes me feel great."
