MORE THAN A CO-WORKER

“I have worked with Barbara for over 23 years and I can’t imagine her not being here anymore.

I have dreaded this day for a long time. Barbara is the most dedicated and loyal employee I have ever known - not to mention smart, accurate and amazing.

“She has kept this city in line for all these years, it is going to be really hard without her. For years we have had perfect audits because of her flawless bookkeeping. But mostly I am going to miss her as my everyday friend, sure I will still get to talk to her but it won’t be the same as having her here every day. I am happy for her, but it makes me sad. I wish her the very best and happiness always!”

-SANDY BUTTON, CITY CLERK/TREASURER

“Barb was working for the city when I first took office and what I quickly learned was how dedicated she was. She always had attention to detail. She missed very few days during her 23 years and was always at work early! That kind of dedication is rare but very much appreciated. She took the approach to paying the bills for the city as if they were her own, making sure they were correct and on time. We are going to miss her but her retirement is well deserved and we wish her the best.

Thanks Barb for a job well done.”

-MAYOR JACKIE CRABTREE

“For many years I’ve enjoyed my morning coffee buddy of Barbara. I’m going to truly miss her being there and her wealth of knowledge. People just think she writes the paychecks, but she completely encompassed the financial aspects of the city and keep up with all the departments, their day to day purchases. She was the keeper of the books for the city.

When I came here, it was Barbara and Sandy. I pray for her wonderful life from here on.”

-TIM LEDBETTER, POLICE CHIEF

“She’s a very dedicated employee and always on top of her game. I love her a lot.”

-KIM THORNHILL, OFFICE MAN- AGER FOR THE WATER DEPARTMENT

“How good she is… they’ve always had good audits. From the city as a whole, she is very good at what she does. She’s a good-hearted woman. She takes care of us individually. She’s really good about letting us know what we need to. She’s always been there to help. She always wanted to help everybody out. A lot of us wouldn’t be where we are today if she hadn’t done what she’s done.”

-NATHAN SEE, MANAGER OF STREET DEPARTMENT
